Production and reserves data for minerals used in renewable energy technologies

Global production and reserves data for minerals used to build renewable energy technologies – wind turbines, solar panels and lithium-ion batteries. The data is cross referenced against the 2017 RGI scoring to identify the governance of countries with reserves of the minerals.

Data includes:

  • Production and reserves data for the following minerals: bauxite, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, indium, iron ore, lead, lithium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, platinum group metals, rare earth, silicon, silver, titanium (ilmenite), zinc.

  • Smelter capacity and production data for: aluminium

  • Refinery production data for: alumina, iron and steel

  • Data taken from the World Bank report: “The Growing Role of Minerals and Metals for a Low Carbon Future”

  • The source for the data is the United States Geological Survey
